Our Story
MEC provided high-speed internet to 26 communities, provided business services to over 200 entrepreneurs, and collaborated with First Nations across the province to develop strategic plans, high-level proposals for land acquisition, and feasibility studies for the development of economic opportunities. The discontinuation of Western Diversification’s Community Access Program led to a drop in revenue and indigenous people’s capacity to access training and equipment to continue their activities.
In 2013, the organization reinvented itself by focusing on its core competencies and marketing to a larger audience. We took on contracts to help non-profit organizations stabilize, grow, and become profitable. We began developing innovative alarm systems for water and sewer treatment plants to better support our communities.
